The Latemargruppe is located between the Karerpass, Obereggen and the Fleimstal on the southern edge of the Dolomites. It opens out in a horseshoe shape towards the east. On this side the rock towers with their scree slopes drop off to a cirque-like plateau. The rock (slightly dolomatised reef limestone) is extraordinarily sharp and brittle. The main peak is the Östliche Latemarturm (2842 m).
