Image collection »Oberes Gericht«

The Oberes Gericht, with its former court of jurisdiction at Burg Landeck above Landeck, includes the Inntal section between the gorge of Finstermünz and Landeck, to be precise, as far as the narrow part of the valley at the Pontlatzer Brücke. The Inn flows from the alluvial fans of the side streams and is forced towards the left side of the valley at the foot of the steep slopes of high terraces on the most important of which we find the nowadays tourism dominated villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis. The mountains of the Engadiner Fenster (alt. just under 3000m) made up of soft Bündner Slate are optimally suited for winter sports. The course of the valley is accompanied by high mountains and has an inner alpine dry climate with 600 to 700mm of rainfall per year, whereby additional irrigation is necessary. The historical development and importance of this area has to this day remained closely linked to the Reschen, an important north-south transit route over the main alpine range.
